Selling on Walmart.com

I have a client that is selling products on Walmart.com…

and we are handling their ecommerce order fulfillment. I want to share my insights on this relatively new ecommerce channel.  I will update this page periodically.

Insight #1

Walmart.com branding only. If you sell on Walmart.com and you fulfill the orders, you can only include Walmart branding on your box or packing slip. Your company’s branding or logo can not be displayed. This prevents you in some ways to acquire new clients to redirect the to your ecommerce web site.

Insight #2

Make sure you have a pricing strategy. I found that some products on Walmart.com can be much higher or lower compared to Amazon. In certain situations Walmart.com was $10 higher or lower compared to Amazon.  It’s really important to know why you want to be on Walmart.com and how your product competes online.

Insight #3

Pricing Rules Apply. They have two primarily rules. Both could automatically unpublish your products if not competitive. 

Rule #1 – Pricing Parity Rule. This rule will automatically unpublish items from Walmart Marketplace if a customer would save by purchasing the same item from the same Seller on a competing website, including the cost of shipping

Rule #2 – Price Leadership Rule / Reasonable Price Not Satisfied. This rule will automatically unpublish items from Walmart Marketplace if a customer would save drastically by purchasing the item on a competing website, regardless of the Seller. This calculation also considers the cost of shipping
